SUBMITTAL INSTRUCTIONS

ELIGIBILITY

This competition is intended to award recognition for exceptional interior design by designers based in the State of Hawaii.  All projects completed by interior designers, architects or industrial designers that focus on the design or design elements of an interior environment are eligible. 

  • Project location may be domestic or international.
  • Winning projects from previous IIDA Award competitions are not eligible.
  • Multiple projects may be entered but must be submitted independently.
  • Projects must have been completed between September 1, 2019 and August 15, 2021.

To submit a project, you must first create an account with OpenWater.

JUDGING CRITERIA AND AWARDS CATEGORIES

 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • COMPLETED SUBMISSION FORM:         
    • Provide information as requested about the design firm, design team, client, consultants, and contractor.
    • PROJECT DESCRIPTION:  Maximum 250 words describing the project requirements and the specific design solutions addressing the project challenges.  Ensure there is no indication of the designer or design firm on the page, in the images, or in the description.
    • Accept waiver acknowledging use of submission information and images by the IIDA Hawai’i Pacific Chapter and Hawaii Business Magazine for marketing and media purposes.
    • Submitter shall ensure their client’s consent acknowledging the entry of their project for the IIDA HPC 2021 Ho’ohuli Awards Program.
    • Submitter shall ensure project photographer’s consent prior to submitting any photos for submission.
  • IMAGERY:  Maximum file size is 10MB and should be uploaded to the OpenWater accompanying Submission Form.

    • FOR JUDGING: Save and submit images and photos, using the submission templates provided, in PDF FORMAT. Images not submitted in PDF format will not be submitted to the jurors for evaluation. The PDF should be formatted in a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio.

    • FOR AWARDS: All individual images included in the submission templates should be stored in a cloud drive (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) in JPG format. Provide a link to this folder in the area titled "Image Library". Should your project be selected for an award, these image may be included as part of the awards presentation. These images are NOT subject to a the 10MB maximum file size. 

    • Please note that project images are subject to adjustment and/or cropping at the discretion of the jurors.

  • FLOOR PLAN(S) & PROJECT IMAGES:  Submittal must include:

    • A minimum of one (1) image must be a floor plan. Images should be keyed to the plan(s).

    • A minimum of three (3) and a maximum of nine (9) images representative of the project. Only photo images of the project are acceptable. Renderings or other conceptual images will NOT be accepted. Please keep captions, if provided, clear and succinct and highlight important details that may not be evident in images.   

    • Arrange project floor plans, images, and captions on the image template slides provided for your use. We recommend utilizing a minimum of three slides per project and have restricted the maximum amount to six (6) slides per project.

    • OPTIONAL IMAGERY: Before construction and detailed images are helpful and provide context for the jurors. Two (2) additional slides are allowed per project. These two slides will NOT count towards the maximum six (6) slide limit and may not be shown in awards presentations.

    • Do not alter the title block in any way other than to record your entry number.

  • PEOPLE’S CHOICE PROJECT BOARD: A single representative image of each project will be used for our online People’s Choice Award voting page.
    • This image should be placed on the template slide provided for this purpose.  
    • Add Client/Project name to the title block where indicated. 
    • Do not include any Designer or Design Firm information on the slide.
  • DESIGN TEAM PHOTO:  Maximum file size is 4MB and should be uploaded to OpenWater accompanying Submission Form.
    • This image should be placed on the template slide provided for this purpose.  
    • Includes names and company of team members included in the design team photo.
    • Company logo(s) should be a minimum of 300 DPI. 

RETURN OF COMPLETED SUBMITTALS

Deadline for return of completed submission form and supporting imagery is August 26, 2021 @ 11:59 PM HST. Both the form and imagery must be received for a submission to be considered as complete. It is the submitters' responsiblity to ensure the submittal conform to the award requirements. Please notify the IIDA HPC Chapter via email of any issues. 

Once your submittal is complete, you will receive an email confirmation, and a link for one (1) complimentary event ticket per registered design firm or company. 

 

WITHDRAWAL OF SUBMITTED PROJECT

All requests to withdraw a project from consideration must be submitted to submit@iida-hi.org before August 10, 2021. Withdrawal of a project may incur an administration fee of $100 at the discretion of the IIDA Awards Committee. No refunds will be issued after August 10, 2021
