PROJECT CATEGORIES

  • WORK – a corporate office space for the operation of public or private business
  • SERVE – a government, public or religious institution that serves the public
  • LIVE – home where multiple, separate residential units are contained within one building or complex with shared common spaces
  • HEAL – facilities dedicated to health and wellness
  • LEARN – facilities with a focus on study, learning or research
  • PLAY – facilities that provide a service, entertainment or hospitality venue for the purpose of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation
  • DINE – facilities that provide a food and/or beverage service or venue for the public
  • SHOP – customer spaces for selling products and goods
  • MAKER – the design & fabrication of a locally made custom interiors element
  • AGAINST ALL ODDS – a project that exemplifies award-winning design despite a limited budget, schedule or other extraordinary challenges or constraints

In addition to the Project Categories listed above, recognition and awards for the following will be given;

  • PEOPLE’S CHOICE – one project in any category chosen by the general public
  • IMPACT AWARD – Juror’s Special Award – one project in any category chosen by the jury with an emphasis on creating a positive impact on the community
  • THE HO’OHULI EXCELLENCE AWARD – Juror’s highest award – one project in any category chosen by the jury that exemplifies the best overall design of all entries
